Celebrating 11 years with Bill Frei

We want to take a moment to shine the spotlight on a remarkable individual who has been an integral part of Apex Mills for the past 11 years. Bill Frei, our esteemed Aridyne Plant Manager, has retired after an impressive 50+ years in the textile industry.

Bill describes his career in one word: Memorable. And it’s no wonder. His journey has been marked by dedication, hard work, and, most importantly, the connections he’s made along the way.

When asked about how he feels about his retirement, Bill shared a mix of excitement and reflection. “I’m looking forward to the flexibility of managing my own schedule,” he says, acknowledging that after five decades in the workforce, stepping away from the structured routine of work is both thrilling and uncertain.

One thing Bill will undoubtedly miss is the social aspect of working at Apex Aridyne. “The relationships I’ve built here are priceless. Getting to know the people at Aridyne and the meaningful conversations we’ve shared have been a true highlight,” he reflects.

Outside of work, Bill’s life revolves around his family. Originally from New Jersey, Bill and his wife Jennifer have been happily married for 44 years. They are the proud parents of three children, Alyson (40), Lisa (37), and Billy (36) and doting grandparents to five wonderful grandkids, with a sixth on the way in May! What’s even better is that they all live close by, so Bill gets to enjoy plenty of quality family time.

When it comes to plans for post-retirement, Bill is keeping things simple. “I don’t have any major trips lined up yet,” he says. “First, I just want to relax, take a deep breath, and savor the moment.” That said, travel is on his list for the future, along with some golf. He also enjoys tackling home improvement projects, and every now and then, you might find him trying his luck at the casino, where a good game of Craps never fails to catch his attention.

Though Bill doesn’t have an extensive list of hobbies, he considers spending time with his family his favorite pastime. “It’s what matters most,” he says, and it’s clear that his family is at the heart of everything he does. He also has a fondness for classic rock, old movies, and timeless sitcoms, all while supporting his beloved New York Mets, a team he’s been loyal to since his childhood.

For those who don’t know, Bill has a hidden talent he enjoys cooking! Who would have thought?

As Bill prepares for the next chapter of his life, he leaves us with these heartfelt words: “I will truly miss the daily conversations and the friendships I’ve built here. Thank you for being such an important part of my life.”

Bill, thank you for your many years of leadership, friendship, and dedication. We wish you all the best as you embark on this well-earned new chapter. Know that your legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone you’ve worked with.
